Welcome to the Web site of the Virginia-West Virginia Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals® (IAAP).  I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit with us.  There are approximately 900 members in our division, which is composed of 23 chapters located in both Virginia and West Virginia.  Our association is committed to enhancing the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building, and leadership development.

The Virginia-West Virginia Division theme for the 2009-2010 year is the “Power of Commitment…reaching new heights.”  We know that by taking that first step, we can make a commitment to indeed reach new heights.  One of my goals for this year is to increase our membership, even though the downturn in the economy seems to be affecting the support many of our members have received in the past from their employers.  My second goal is to administer to the needs of our current members by providing leadership training, networking, and visiting with the chapters to do presentations.  Thirdly, I plan to promote the image of IAAP and our administrative professionals by speaking to groups outside our organization and encouraging our members to do the same.

During Annual Meeting at the end of this IAAP year, we will present awards to our chapters for the best newsletter, brochure, and chapter Web site.   We offer these in three categories of membership, from 1-25, from 26-50, and for the chapters with 50 or more members.  This is to encourage our members to be their professional best.

At Annual Meeting, we will present chapter achievement awards in the three membership categories (with specific criteria provided), and we offer an award to the chapter that sponsors the best student chapter program.

The Division President’s Awards include recognizing the member who recruits the most members, the chapter that retains the most members, and the chapter that has the best civic program (helping their community) throughout the year.  The President’s Award will also recognize the employer who exemplifies the best IAAP supporter.

If you live nearby or are visiting an area near one of our chapters, we invite you to attend a membership meeting.  If you have any questions about IAAP, we would also welcome those.  Thank you for visiting our Web site; please let us know if we can assist you in any way.
